Pumpkin Spice Moscow Mule

Fall is in full effect. I've eased my way into this season by playing with the ever popular pumpkin spice flavor. This week, I decided to test how it would pair with cocktails. I chose the Moscow mule because it's one of my go- to recipes. I am not great at making cocktails, so any recipe that is easy and only requires a few ingredients is in heavy rotation.

Surprisingly, the pumpkin spice paired well with the other ingredients and it didn't overshadow the flavors that I love from the mule- the rich, gingery taste of the ginger beer, and zestiness of the lime juice. The addition of the cinnamon sticks added a subtle, welcomed sweetness to the cocktail. Who knew pumpkin spice would work so well?! I can't wait to experiment with more cocktail recipes.

Note: For this cocktail, I'm using diet ginger beer. But, if you don't like a super strong gingery flavor, substitute it with diet ginger beer. The diet ginger beer I used still has that great flavor, but with half the sugars and no aftertaste.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Vodka

  • 4 oz Diet ginger beer (or diet ginger ale)

  • Juice from half a lime

  • 1/4 tsp Pumpkin spice

  • Ice

  • Lime wedge (garnish)

  • Cinnamon sticks (garnish)

Instructions

  1. Fill mule mug with ice.

  2. Pour vodka, juice lime, and add pumpkin spice in mug. Stir ingredients together.

  3. Top with diet ginger beer.

  4. Garnish with lime wedge and cinnamon sticks.
